How to select a random row from a table in MySQL?
6 years ago • alex
Let's say I have a table with an integer column called ID being a primary key. It is unique and not-null, but we cannot guarantee it being sequential without gaps. I.e. we may have rows with ID = 1,2,6,7,8 and we do not have rows with ID 3,4,5 etc etc. This is why we cannot just generate a random number and get a row with that corresponding ID. Also we want all rows to have equal chance of being selected, so b/c of the gaps in ID values we ca

How to remotely control old android from new android
6 years ago • boris
I have an older android that has HDMI connection and I can connect it to my TV, I want to be able to send video or music to it so it will play (so I don't have to buy another device like chromecast). Any ideas? The android on the old device is pretty outdated and I cannot update it since hardware limitations, so keep it in mind when suggesting something it should be able to install on gingerbread with apk

Implementing A/B testing with ASP.NET MVC backend and Google Analytics reporting tools
6 years ago • alex
A/B testing (sometimes called split testing) is comparing two versions of a web page to see which one performs better - sells more products or signs up more users or whatever other goal you are optimizing for. You compare two versions of your page (let's call them A and B) by showing version A to some visitors and version B to other visitors. Both pages usually run in parallel (at the same time). Those visitors who see version A should never

NFC watch strap - embedding NFC chip into dumb watch wrist strap
6 years ago • alex
Has anyone tried to embed an NFC chip like MiFare DESFire or even simple NFC tag into a dumb watch strap? Then you could potentially unlock office doors with your dumb watch - should be a bit easier / faster compared to pulling out your thick wallet with Access Cards in it, and it could have potentially some other applications too.

Can you stack multiple NFC cards on top of each other in your wallet
6 years ago • alex
Can you stack multiple NFC cards on top of each other in your wallet? Will they continue to work without interference? Or will they block each other? I am just being lazy and do not want to pull cards out of my wallet to open various office doors, I just want to touch the reader with the wallet and be done with it. And the wallet of course would contain several NFC cards held pretty close together. Can somebody please stage an experiment an
